Right at the entrance to the ‘Val di Genova,’ a richly vegetated area, full of streams and minerals, once stood the ancient “Crystal Factory.” Still a working factory right up until 1888, this building extracted quartz from the mountains, crushed it using a mighty mill, worked it and thus produced objects in a crystal similar to that of Bohemia.
Here, many precious objects were manufactured that adorned the various courts of Europe in the 1800s. But recently, the factory has been transformed into a museum by the descendants of its founder, Demetrio Pernici.
The Glass Museum of Carisolo is a great place in which to start rediscovering the art of glass of the 1800s, and inside the museum you can see the ancient instruments used by the glassmakers, a collection of photographs and numerous original crystal objects dating back to the 19th century.
As well as being home to these displays, the museum also has a multi-functional room equipped with all basic technical requirements, wi-fi and natural light. The space is ideally suited for organising small meetings and events.
