Situated in the south-eastern part of Trentino, this tourist area takes in the high plains of Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna. It is known for its wealth of traditions, that the inhabitants have kept alive for centuries, and in fact, these high plains still safeguard important aspects of their heritage, such as the ‘Cimbra’ language (an ancient German dialect that is evidence of the German-Cimbra colonisation of the X-XIII century). Then there is the Magnificent Community of Folgaria, (symbolic of the independent experience of certain rural communities in the past) and many tiny villages with their ancient buildings.
